WIA Presents: Emotional Resilience During COVID 19
with Christine Campbell, ATR, LMFT and Michelle Seely, LMFT
In this second talk we want to build on the ideas we shared last month about anxiety and grief. Inspired by your questions and comments, we will dive a little deeper, exploring how traumas or difficult experiences from the past can intensify our reactions here and now. We will also talk about how shame over our own struggles adds yet another layer to our suffering, and limits our resilience. With these perspectives, we can more skillfully and flexibly meet both our own difficult feelings and the challenges we are all facing right now.
Christine Campbell, ATR, LMFT, is a psychotherapist in private practice in the Toluca Lake/Burbank area, where she works with individuals, couples, and groups from a Relational Gestalt Therapy approach. She is a core faculty member of the Pacific Gestalt Institute, a post-graduate clinical training program for therapists. Christine is a clinical supervisor at the Southern California Counseling Center, and a past president of the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles. One of her specialties is grief and traumatic loss, and she has a particular interest in grief as a creative process in therapy.
Michelle Seely, M.F.T., has a private practice in Burbank where she works with older teens and adults. Michelle is on the core faculty of the Pacific Gestalt Institute, she supervises interns at the Southern California Counseling Center, and she teaches classes on Mindful Self-Compassion and shame resilience. Michelle is a past-president of the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles (GTILA). Michelle's professional interests include the overlaps between Buddhist Psychology and Relational Gestalt, shame resilience, and how the use of story and metaphor support therapeutic change.
